Clear Cut Couples: Roxanne and Ryan

Ryan and Roxanne met in 2012 at their Alma Mater, Rutgers University, planning the on-campus concerts. They were life-of-the-party types and extremely close friends in college, but they always dated other people - enter friend-zone!! After they graduated, they remained super close despite the distance of living in different cities (Ryan was in DC, Roxanne was in NYC), still talking on the phone, going to concerts and strategically pressing “play” on shows/movies while FaceTiming just to watch together. AWW!  In 2015, to ring in the New Year, Ry invited Rox to an event in DC and that's what started it all - exit friend-zone. After almost two years worth of trains and bus rides from DC to NYC and vice versa, Ry and Rox moved in together and have been living in Brooklyn ever since!

They have been together for four years! They’ve made it through many long phone calls, a DC-to-NYC move and a New York City apartment hunting (they made it through that, so they can do anything). They got engaged in April of 2019!

With the help of some close friends, Ry tricked Rox and got her excited to go to a “secret concert” in Brooklyn only to surprise her with a beautiful space decorated with photos of them throughout the years. With one of their songs playing through the speakers, Ry got down on one knee and popped the question. Post- “YES,” friends + family came from NJ, NYC, DC + Philly to celebrate with them. To kick the party off, they had Rox’s favorite wine and Roberta’s pizza. A week after the proposal, they jetted off to Greece for a post-engagement island hop from Athens to Crete, Santorini and Mykonos. Opa!

Rox and Ry designed the ring together with Olivia’s help and guidance to make sure that it was perfect (a major relief for Ry!). Olivia was a HUGE help since Rox had no idea what she wanted. Finally, they saw a BEAUTIFUL oval diamond and knew it was the one! They set the oval diamond in a super skinny solitaire band. It felt classic and modern at the same time - perfect for Rox!

Now that the ring was settled, all Ry had to do next was plan how to pop the question. Rox had no idea when or how the proposal was going to happen (she assumed it would happen during their already planned trip to Greece)! Since Rox never saw the ring fully complete, she was absolutely stoked to see it and couldn’t wait to wear it forever!

They haven’t been in any rush to plan their wedding -- right now they are fully enjoying being engaged. They’re aiming for an October 2020 wedding! They both love the sun, waves and vibes in southern California, they’re inviting friends and family to meet them in Malibu for a cliffside wedding! Congrats you two! We are so happy for you!
