Clear Cut Couples: Ashley and Anthony
Ashley and Anthony met the summer heading into their senior year of high school. Although they attended different schools, they held the same student government positions, which so happened to allow them to meet weekly at the San Francisco Unified School District. Fast forward nine years later, baking in four and a half years of long distance in between, they are engaged and happily still living in San Francisco.
Their first date was at Great America’s Halloween Haunt back in 2013. As you can imagine, haunted hayrides and dark mazes create the perfect ambiance for two 17-year-old teenagers to get to know each other. Throughout the night, they held hands running away from chainsaw-holding clowns, snuck in a couple of pecks, and bought matching bracelets to commemorate the night. Safe to say, it was a scarily good night.
They have a particularly unique relationship as they are high school sweethearts and have been together for nearly a decade. Their relationship has survived four and a half years of long distance. Their date nights look a lot like other people's - food, Brooklyn 99, and snuggling up with their cats, what more can you want?
Hoping to hide any suspicion of a proposal, Anthony planned a trip up to Napa for their nine-year anniversary. They drove up in the morning from San Francisco, starting with a tasting at Artesa, then lunch at Auberge du Soleil, and finally making their way over to Stags’ Leap for a private tour and eventually, the proposal. It worked out well that the staff was in on the plan, which was to do a tasting then walk down to the vineyard for a private tour and pop the question.
The proposal was a surprise, but the ring wasn’t because they worked together on the diamond selection and design process. Ashley had an inkling as it has been nine years after all, but the real surprise was seconds before he was going to propose, she accidentally spilled red wine all over her dress and sent him into a panic thinking the moment had been ruined. Long story short, thank goodness for Wine Away and the perfect ring that distracted Ashley from fixating on the stain for too long. She loves the ring and continues to remind him how much she does daily.
They are currently planning their May 2024 Portugal destination wedding and cannot wait to celebrate with friends and family. Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
