Clear Cut Couples: Brett and RivaLee
Brett and RivaLee met about 3.5 years ago at a bar in Scottsdale! RivaLee ran into a mutual friend from college that Brett was with. They talked briefly and then later matched on Hinge. It was just another sign that they needed to go on a dinner date. They found out that they even shared another close college friend, but never remembered actually meeting in college!
Their first date was simple. He picked her up at her apartment and they had dinner at a restaurant in Phoenix. He invited her to a concert with him and his friends after and she said no, but they began texting immediately and went on their second date the same week. After their second date at a restaurant, Brett kissed her goodbye for the first time by her parking meter. She felt a whole butterfly in her stomach. They have been together for almost four years since then! RivaLee had always jokingly told her family that she hoped he would later propose by that same meter.
Everything just made sense. They moved super fast from dating to saying “I love you”… it was very much the timeline of a romance movie!
They have shared countless incredible memories, like Coachella and their first trip right when they started dating, to Sedona, where they had their all time favorite peach & ricotta pizza (which they have spent many date nights at home recreating since). They went back to Sedona for RivaLee’s birthday this year where he was almost going to propose, but she had gotten super sick! They took another amazing trip last summer to Greece and the Amalfi Coast, which was their first vacation to Europe together. They travel so easily together, which was always another sign that they were meant to be. The best moment, for RivaLee, was a few months into dating, she asked if he’d still love her if she was a worm. He left the room and came back with an engagement ring made out of a twist tie. She still has it.
He proposed (for real, no twist tie) in November! Brett had a mutual friend text RivaLee about an event his brother was throwing at the restaurant. So they decided to go and when they were walking up to the restaurant, they passed that same parking meter. That’s where he got down on one knee. Then they went to a private dinner, just the two of them at a rooftop restaurant that rotated so you had a 360 view of the skyline.
The ring is gorgeous! RivaLee gave some inspiration so it was not entirely a surprise. Brett was acting so nonchalant on the day he proposed that it threw her off. Turns out he’s just good at acting calm on the outside. He said he was rehearsing his speech all day on the inside.
Their wedding is set for March 2027 at Royal Palms in Phoenix! Their friends and family will be traveling from out of state to celebrate with them. Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
