Clear Cut Couples: Maddie and Max

Maddie and Max met on Hinge during the pandemic in the dead of winter. Maddie lived in the UES and Max lived all the way in Hoboken. Since Maddie had just moved to the city, she hadn’t thought about traveling that far for a date, but there was just something about him… and there being indoor dining in New Jersey didn’t hurt!

They had the most incredible first date that went from brunch all the way to dinner time across restaurants on Washington St. They bonded over how important family and their little brothers are to them, how they had the best time both going to state school in the Midwest for college, and their shared love of trying new foods. They felt so relieved to finally have found someone that they bonded so quickly with after honestly comical previous first dates on the apps. They quickly knew each other was “the one.”

They have been together almost 4 years now and live together in an apartment in Chelsea. They have shared countless incredible memories over the years. They have a Cavalier King Charles spaniel named Clover, who they affectionately call Muff (short for muffin) who is the light of their lives.

The first trip that they took together was 6 months into their relationship to an all-inclusive resort in Turks and Caicos that had a COVID discount, so they figured why not! Maddie learned how comically easily Max gets sunburnt and his love for beach vacations. Max learned that Maddie takes airport efficiency very seriously and love a resort activity. They paddle boarded, snorkeled, tried conch for the first time, and rode jet skis. They also have so many amazing memories with their best friends and their significant others taking trips together. One being when they spent Easter together out in the Hamptons making the most lavish spread and putting together their own Easter egg hunt. They have the best time trying any and all activities and restaurants in the city. Some of their favorites are drink making glasses, oyster shucking at Seamores, going to Saturday Night Live and mini golfing at every single boozy mini golf establishment the city has to offer.

Max proposed on November 2nd in Madison Square Park. It is a special place for them because they live next door and take their dog to the dog run there every weekend morning. After the proposal, Max had a photographer there for a quick photo shoot and then a surprise engagement party at Vintage Green with all of their friends and family. Maddie is incredibly hard to surprise, but it was even better than she could have ever imagined! It was so special having their close friends and Maddie’s family fly out to be with them on that day. Max truly could not have picked out a more perfect ring. Maddie said, “He knows I’ve always wanted an antique cut and all my friends were blown away with how unique and gorgeous it was. He showed me a few options he was choosing from and he 10000% went with the absolute perfect one!”

They plan to get married in October 2026 in Maddie’s parent’s backyard in Columbus, Ohio. She lives on 5 acres in the woods and they can’t wait to get married under the fall leaves and twinkly lights! Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
