Clear Cut Couples: Maggie and Glavine

by Daniella Cohen

Maggie and Glavine first met at a Hartselle basketball game on February 13th, 2021, when one of Maggie's lifelong friends introduced them. After that night, they went their separate ways and didn't think much about each other until a month later, when Glavine committed to play baseball at Calhoun. Maggie reached out to congratulate him, and from that moment forward, the conversation didn't stop.

Some of their sweetest memories weren’t at the baseball fields or in big moments, but in the little things: late-night FaceTime calls, Sunday drives to church, conversations about the Lord’s work in their lives, and ordinary moments that became extraordinary simply because they were shared together.

On June 3rd, 2021, they found themselves at a Trash Pandas game. Surrounded by baseball, their story turned into a fairytale. That night, with a little encouragement from Maggie’s friends, Glavine asked her to be his girlfriend. It was the perfect beginning.

As they started dating, what made Maggie fall in love with Glavine was the way he loves—big, selfless, and genuine. He takes time to truly know people, and his love is steady, whether on her best days or her hardest ones. For Glavine, his love grew as he watched how Maggie’s heart impacted every person she met. She carried the Lord’s love into every encounter, making a difference in big and small ways.

Together, they’ve grown up side by side, pushing one another to never settle, to keep growing, and to live fully in Christ’s plan. Maggie admires the way Glavine chooses to love her through every season, and Glavine treasures Maggie’s heart, which reflects Christ’s love so deeply.

They have been together for 4.5 years since!

Glavine proposed at Maggie's family home. He had disguised it as “four-year anniversary pictures.” They started their photoshoot in the front yard, and were then guided to the back of the house, where he had a standing cross awaiting them.

It was a definite surprise! Maggie is a smart woman, but she also did not know what to expect on that day, so she probably had a clue that something would happen. Her reaction to the ring was like no other! A day to remember for the rest of their lives.

Their wedding plans are to be married in the church surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones gathered around - it will be the most perfect wedding possible for them! Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
