Clear Cut Couples: Nina and Chris

Chris and Nina met at the most unlikely of places (Bounce Sporting Club… if you are a New Yorker you know how rare that is…) on Super Bowl weekend. Chris originally had plans to go skiing in Vermont that weekend, and Nina had plans to bar-hop around NYC with some friends. Ultimately, their separate plans fell through, and fate and fortunate circumstances landed them both at the same place, at the same time. When Chris walked into the bar, Nina was the first person he saw. He immediately mentioned to his friend that she was the prettiest girl he’d ever seen. Shortly thereafter, Nina and Chris locked eyes and continued to glance in each other’s direction hoping that the other would make a move. Eventually, they simultaneously decided it was time to talk to each other and walked in each other’s direction until they were face to face. They each said hello, struck up a conversation, and the rest was history!

Nina and Chris’s first date was very fitting for what their relationship has come to be. It started with drinks at the speakeasy “Employees Only” in the West Village. After a few classier drinks, they decided to keep the night going and try a more casual place. On their walk, it began to rain, so they dipped into a local pub. Nina mentioned she was hungry, so Chris immediately decided to get some comfort food (mozzarella sticks- which was the right choice). It was at this moment that the two found a real sense of comfort in each other. After a few drinks and some food, Chris and Nina went to The Jane and finished the night dancing! It was both a special date and a date that allowed Chris and Nina to get a true sense of who each other were. Since then, they have been dating for over 3 years! Chris and Nina met in early February 2018 but have been “officially” dating since March 6, 2018.

Over the years, they have shared so many incredible memories! Chris and Nina quickly realized that they couldn’t imagine life without each other, and wanted that life to include a furry friend. In August of 2018, they found the love of their lives, Emmy Rose, a husky mix who they picked up from the Boston airport. She is the light of their lives and has provided many laughs and so much joy.

Another incredible memory was their trip to St. Barths in November 2019. In lieu of the tradition Thanksgiving, they decided to head South and enjoy the beautiful tropical island. They rented a mini coop and explored the beautiful island, visiting spots recommended by locals like Gouverneur Beach and lunch at Shellona. This trip was monumental because on a holiday normally spent around their separate families, they realized they’d found family in each other. It felt right, and sealed the deal for both of them.

The proposal took place in Vail, Colorado. Nina and Chris both have a love for winter, skiing/snowboarding and anything to do with mountains. Knowing this would be a special place to kick off “forever”, Chris secretly booked a terrace overlooking the mountain and gondola. He went all in, hiring a photographer and florist to make sure it was a scene and moment that neither of them would ever forget (he’d also tricked Nina into thinking they’d be going to fancy pre-dinner drinks, so her outfit was on point).

Despite being dressed all in white, Nina was completely caught by surprise. She immediately burst into tears and was lost for words. Chris had an entire speech prepared, but ended up simply speaking from the heart. Nina was blown away by the ring and could not be more in love (with both the ring and her fiancé!). They have dreamed of a wedding on the Amalfi coast, as they both have family in Southern Italy. However, if that doesn’t pan out with COVID, they will likely have a more classic NYC wedding.
