Clear Cut Couples: Sophia and Zack
Sophia and Zack spent most of their lives living in neighboring towns, yet somehow they didn’t meet until after they graduated high school. They were first introduced through friends at 19, while they attended rival Big 10 Schools. One of Sophia's friends in high school was college roommates with Zack for all of undergrad. They had no idea how often life would keep bringing them back together. They even ran into each other in Cabo during their senior year spring break trips when both of their friend groups happened to be staying at the same resort.
After graduating and finding themselves back in their hometowns, they decided to see where things could go. Their first official date was sushi and rosé at a local restaurant that they both loved separately, but had never been to together. Sushi & wine nights remain to be one of their favorite date nights all of these years later.
They’ve been together for nearly 7 years since then and have shared countless incredible memories! They have been really fortunate to go on some special trips together including a safari in Tanzania and also exploring Iceland. In 2023, they brought home their Goldendoodle, Kai, and learned how to raise a puppy together in the city. Kai was Sophia's first dog and she always wanted one growing up, but her parents resisted.
Zack proposed in Paris at Place des Vosges in the Marais District in April 2025. The trip to Paris itself was a surprise, disguised as a “6th year anniversary trip.” He proposed early in the morning when the garden was empty and it was a really intimate moment for just them. In the afternoon, the park gets packed and lively with people and music, reminding them of Central Park!
Sophia was surprised, but had a suspicion that the proposal was happening in Paris. It was her first time in the city and everything between the trip and the ring felt surreal. She wanted something unique and a yellow diamond is exactly that. They will be getting married in June 2026 in NJ at an outdoor venue with a vineyard on site, a gentle nod to their trip to France. They will be going back to France after the wedding to spend time in Provence and the French Riviera as trips to the country are so meaningful to them now! Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
