Clear Cut Couples: Tamila and Josh

Tamila and Josh met in 2014 through an online dating website; connecting instantly over music, humor, travel, and a love of funky restaurants. After exchanging phone numbers and texting for a short while, they met at a local restaurant in the middle of a hailstorm in April. While the weather was sheer madness, their connection was the polar opposite; a date of which has led us to this moment, where Josh proposed to the absolute love of his life! Since then, they have been together for almost five years!

Josh proposed on January 5th, 2019. He was going back and forth on multiple ideas for the past few months and he felt stuck -- up until 2 weeks before. He knew she wanted a more intimate proposal, so he decided to hold it in their apartment. It was going to be a grand proposal: he got a balloon machine, 2 helium tanks, and made 300 balloons (the day before the big day)! Thankfully his parents lived nearby, so he was able to hide them at their house.

When the big day finally came, Josh had a whole team ready to help him pull it off: his mom (who took the day off to help him), his neighbor, his brother, his brother’s girlfriend and their neighbor. They all drove to Josh’s apartment with the balloons - completely flooding his apartment with balloons. They decorated the apartment with flowers and a custom scrapbook, as well. It was almost set except for one thing. Josh queued up the TV at full volume with Bruno Mars’ song “Marry You!” Now, everything was ready. As Tamila walked in, she saw the balloons, scrapbook, and flowers, but not Josh – he immediately clicked play on the song, walked out to her, and the rest is history!

She was so surprised by the proposal – never expecting it to be post-holiday season! She was under the impression that 2018 was the big year. Since Josh waited until the first weekend in January, it definitely threw her off-guard. As for the ring, Tamila is obsessed with her radiant cut three stone ring! She was in shock by it, truly in love with the faceting, the way it sparkles! Tamila and Josh say, “The Clear Cut team crushed it!”

As for their wedding, they’re currently aiming for a Summer / Fall 2020 wedding. They are looking to have an intimate small-scale wedding at a restaurant of unique art-house or industrial space.
