Both a content creator for all things bridal and a professional proposal planner, we wanted to know how Lexi got her start to creating this passion as a career. It began with planning her older sister's proposal in 2019. She helped create the day and kept it a surprise from her sister, resulting in much attention on social media with 100M views! Since then, friends and family asked Lexi to assist with their proposals as she recognized the need for a proposal planner in the industry.

What was your sister's proposal story? What made it stand out from others and go viral?

Lexi had used her parent's beach house, which the family frequently visits, so it could have been any other normal stay-cation but her sister got out of the car and was immediately met with music and was led from the front of the house to the beach on a white path laid our for her proposal. Lexi thinks it had to have been her sister's genuine emotion that won the hearts of many online, because it was purely an in-the-moment, moment!

We had to ask, how do you even get started planning someone else's proposal?

The key is to remember that this is the beginning of a new life for these couples so Lexi likes to truly learn what the relationship is like. Everyone has a story and the personalities and dynamic are never the same as the next couple. Lexi notices the difference between some proposals, some people have no idea what they want, giving Lexi room to make it special or some couples are the complete opposite and know every detail they have in mind, which makes her job a lot easier.

The main truth to remember is: it's best to remain organic and true to yourself. Whatever fits the couple best will show and some prefer a vibe to their engagement that fits their life. Also, don't let social media be the ruling factor to your proposal planning. This is a time for true commitment and love, ease up on the pressure, even though it is present, especially in Lexi's position.

Lexi is a newly-wed bride! We wanted to hear all about her inspiration and her planning process for the big day.

As she is an event planner herself, not a wedding planner was in sight besides Lexi. It was lots of work but loads of fun to do on her own and she felt completely satisfied with everything she did for the day. Her wedding aesthetic was very elegant and fairytale-like. Lexi incorporated one floral only, filling the space with baby's breath. To Lexi, it felt like floating in a cloud, surrounded by string lights and lit candles.

She felt proud of her creativity combined with transformative nature of her venue, The Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn. It was very important for her to follow what she truly liked and wanted, and took time to step away from social media. It is so easy to compare and always want what the next person has, so Lexi offers the advice to go back to the core reason to why you're here and what you're really planning for.

There are so many details to focus on, what are some tips with venues, dresses and jewelry?

Lexi was one of those brides, like many of us, that tried on tons of dresses before finding the one. Too many trials are never a bad thing but it can be overwhelming to find the right dress. She says to carve out enough months to try on as much as you want, any needed alterations and suggests to try on what you don't think you will like because it might be your dress.

Should the venue be set before you pick the dress?

Lexi says yes, venues get booked quickly so do that first and this will guide the aesthetics of the whole day, down to your dress. Venue first, dress second.

We're all jewelry girls and Lexi believes that jewelry can have so much influence on your look, maybe more so than your dress. If your gown is simple, take advantage of wearing accessories that make a statement, versus a large ballgown, which would look best with simple, cohesive jewels.

Lexi had to give her feedback for a few rounds of 'In or Out', here's what she thinks about some wedding traditions and details:

Bridal parties? Out, the drama that comes with is not worth it.

A photographer at the proposal? In, of course!

Matching bridesmaid dresses? Out, everyone has their own style.

Wedding day gifts for the bride and groom to give each other? In

First looks? In, guests love it.

Bouquet toss? Out

Multi-day wedding events? If it's a destination wedding, in. If it's something local, it's kind of unnecessary so, out

Wedding gifts from guests attending a destination wedding? In, but it is understandable why gifts can be left out.

Weddings on non-traditional days of the week? Out, why make it complicated.

Speeches? In, that will always be the highlight of any wedding.

Thanks so much to Lexi for sharing her own wedding planning experience, her career in proposal planning and her thoughts on bridal trends. We wish her best of luck in the future on other proposals and cannot wait to see who she plans for next!
