If you've been following my blog, you know all about the white color diamond scale by heart now - D to Z, where D is the whitest color. However, what happens when you past the Z color?

This is the start of the fancy yellow color scale! In this scale, the more saturated the color is, the more valuable the diamond is. This scale ranges from Fancy Yellow Light to Fancy Yellow Intense to Fancy Yellow Vivid. Yellow diamonds can also have undertone or overtones, including brownish, greenish, or orangish, creating a lot of variety in the types of yellow diamonds.

Fancy yellow diamonds used to be popular a few decades ago, but after a break, they are back in full swing! With yellow diamonds, we always recommending setting the diamond in yellow gold metal, as opposed to platinum prongs that make diamonds look brighter.

With yellow diamonds, the most popular cuts they are available in are radiants, pear, and cushion cuts! These are the shapes that tend to hold that yellow color the best. Are you into these fancy yellow diamonds? Let me know in the comments below!
