 Here are some words you should know to sound like a diamond expert!

 

cert, certification - the official certification that comes with your diamond that includes all the details about the diamond. Think of it as your diamond's birth certificate!

 

setting - when talking about an engagement ring, we often talk about the diamond and the setting. The setting refers to actual metal ring that the diamond is set onto. 

 

faceting - faceting refers to the cuts in your stone that reflect light to produce the signature sparkle and pattern of a diamond. There are many different types of faceting patterns that affect the way your diamond looks!

 

culet - the culet refers to the extra facet at the end of an antique cut diamond. So antique cut, old mine, and old european cuts all have this characteristics.
