Today, we're continuing our "Diamonds by the Carat" series with radiant cuts! Radiant are beautiful, modern, and sparkly cuts, known for their distinct cut corners. Radiant cuts can range from square to super elongated.
These are the ratios for the following looks:
Square look: 1.0 - 1.1
Slightly elongated: 1.15 - 1.25
Elongated and rectangular: 1.25+
Radiant cuts are able to camouflage inclusions and mask color pretty well. I typically recommend staying within the D to J color range. As long as the inclusions are not visible to the naked eye, I recommend anything up to SI1 and SI2 for clarity.
If you like the silhouette of an emerald cut but want more bling, then the radiant cut is perfect for you! My favorite way to set a radiant cut is in a simple, solitaire setting to let the diamond shine on its own. Radiant cuts also look great with side stones - brilliant cut trapezoids, trillion cuts, and even baguettes are the perfect companions to a radiant cut center stone.
Thanks for tuning in, and let us know what you want to see next week in the comments below!
