Recently, we’re seeing more and more couples gravitate towards shopping for engagement rings together. Historically, one partner (usually the man in a heterosexual relationship) picks out the ring and proposes as a complete surprise. This may leave little room for the other partner to share their tastes or preferences.

However, now couples want to be involved together in every step of the process as this is a significant investment for their future. Most couples that come to us work together during the entire process.

The first and most important step for couples is to pick the right diamond. Couples are encouraged to share any desirable attributes they may have in advance for the ring during their initial consultation with their gemologist. It’s important to be open and honest when picking the ring for both partners. Some couples both contribute financially to the ring whereas others may opt for other options. There’s no right or wrong way to do the process together! Our proprietary software and portal, gem., makes it so easy to work remotely from anywhere in the world.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to work together on the ring, that’s also completely ok! We recommend making sure you have a vision, have done ample research, and have a friend who will serve as the bridge of communication between you and your partner.
