First and foremost, you should avoid working out or doing any strenuous activity while wearing your ring. Your engagement ring is a piece of fine jewelry and should be cared for as such! Avoiding strenuous activity while wearing your ring will protect it from any knicks or scratches.
To keep your ring shining bright, create an at-home cleaning routine! All you need to keep your ring clean is some soap, warm water, and a soft-bristle toothbrush. I usually do this every two weeks and soak it for 20 minutes before gently brushing the engagement ring.
If you’re looking for more professional cleaning, I would recommend sending the ring back to your jeweler (us) every 18-24 months. The Clear Cut offers professional polishing, steam cleaning, and prong tightening for all of our engagement rings.
Even if the diamond feels secure, it’s still a good idea to do an extra checkup to be on the safe side. Additionally, if you have a special occasion coming up and want your ring to look brand new, we would also recommend a professional cleaning and steaming for your ring. If you believe the diamond is loose in your setting, send it back immediately so it can be checked and have its prongs tightened.
