Clear Cut Couples: Alicia and Shawn

Although Alicia and Shawn didn’t know each other since they were kids, their brothers did! Growing up, their brothers, John and Craig, played Pop Warner Football together and their dads were the coaches. This was the first step of what was to come.

Over the years, they grew closer as friends and their families started to mesh. It all culminated when their brothers both decided to go to Gettysburg College and play football together. That’s where the story really starts - as they went to Gettysburg football tailgates and parties. Go Bullets!

After a few years of memories at the games, they finally got together and decided to make things official on the 4th of July, 2021. It was time to give what they had a real shot and the rest is history!

For their first date, Shawn was living in Harrisburg, PA, but came up to NYC to see Alicia. They met on The Met Steps and explored the museum exhibits, went on the rooftop, and finished the date with dinner in the UES. Being friends first made the date so easy and unforgettable. They knew that this was different and meant to be. They even took some engagement photos on the steps once they got back to the city… where it all started. They got engaged in July 2024, and tied the knot with TCC rings in June 2025!

Since they have known each other for so long, they have shared countless incredible memories from when they were just acquaintances, family friends, and now husband and wife. They love their life in NYC, but also enjoy quiet weekends at the Jersey Shore with friends and family. Some of their favorite memories are from trips together. The first trip they took together was camping in Acadia National Park. Followed by additional trips to Florida, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Aruba, and Mexico.

Shawn proposed just about three years after they started dating on July 6, 2024. He popped the question in Divine Park, Spring Lake, NJ, across the street from St. Catharine's Church. The park and the lake have always been special to Alicia. Her grandmother took her there regularly to feed the ducks and she fished there with her father. Alicia has always wanted to get married at St. Catharine's, and that is why Shawn chose the east side of the lake.

Shawn may have hinted that he was proposing when he suggested that Alicia wear something nice to the family BBQ. But when does she not put on a cute sundress? The ring was perfect and everything she asked for. Shawn was given clear instructions (Round, 6 prongs), but chose the actual diamond by himself. He is a great listener, which is one of the many things that Alicia loves about him!

They got married on June 20, 2025 at St. Catharine’s Church, followed by dinner and dancing at the Crystal Point Yacht Club in Point Pleasant, NJ. Their wedding bands are also from TCC. Alicia also had a TCC tennis bracelet that she wore on the big day, as her something borrowed. Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
