Clear Cut Couples: Katy and John

Katy and John met at Cornell College, a small liberal arts school in Iowa -- Katy's freshman year, John's sophomore year. Katy is originally from California and John is from Michigan, but they met in Iowa of all places! Since then, they have been together for over seven years!! After 1.5 years of long distance in the middle of their relationship, they have been excited to finally call New York home since 2016.

John proposed just outside of Gramercy Park, one of their favorite places in NYC and where they’ve lived, just a block away, for the past two years. He proposed after a date night, consisting of dinner and a movie. It was so special and romantic! Plus, their one-year-old Porkiepoo puppy, Beau, was along for the walk and was just as excited as they were! It was perfect!

Katy was totally surprised, even though John looped Katy in for the ring designing process! They loved working with The Clear Cut to design the ring together (so of course, it was Katy's dream ring) and it was a bonding experience the two of them. She is in love with her pear cut pave ring!

Since Katy helped choose the ring, John made it his goal to really catch her off-guard with the actual proposal, which totally he did! When they first started thinking about rings, Katy thought she'd like a marquise cut and John preferred an oval, so Katy's pear ring was the perfect happy medium and complemented both of their tastes so well.

They just started planning for their wedding, but recently found their venue!! They will have a September, 2020 rooftop wedding in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Congrats Katy and John -- we are so happy for you! You two are the perfect pear!! 🍐💎
