Clear Cut Couples: Lauren and Will
Every
Clear Cut Couple that I get to work with is unique. From the type of diamond to the engagement story, I love getting to help with every moment. Some clients come to me with clear ideas while others are more confused. Some, like Will, are planners and think through every aspect of the ring as well as the proposal. Will had a thorough plan when he came to me to design a custom ring for his girlfriend Lauren and I was so excited to be a part of it!
Will and Lauren had been “officially” dating for three years before he recently popped the question overlooking Chicago’s skyline. Having been set up by a close friend to be dates for a semi-formal at Davidson College during their freshman year, Will and Lauren were initially just friends. But after a couple years of being in the “friend-zone” throughout school, Will said they stayed in touch and started dating after graduation in the fall of 2014.
When Will came to The Clear Cut, he made my job easy! He knew Lauren’s preferences exactly as they had gone shopping for rings earlier in the year. But Will had a plan to surprise Lauren and propose earlier than she had originally expected. After a few conversations, he picked Lauren’s perfect ring: a gorgeous cushion cut diamond set in an 18K yellow gold pave halo ring.
On the day of the proposal, Will and Lauren had been working in the business school at Northwestern’s campus. After a few anxious hours, Will asked Lauren to take a walk along the nearby Lake Michigan. Will says that then “At the tip of the lakefill, I dropped to one knee, muttered something sweet that I cannot remember, and asked Lauren to marry me!” (Aw!) To make this story even cuter, Will had asked a close friend to hide nearby and take photos of the moment. He was the first to congratulate them with champagne and flowers!
Will and Lauren are leaning towards a fall 2019 wedding in northern Michigan.
