Clear Cut Couples: Maria and Jose
Maria and Jose met in September, 2017 at a charity event that Jose was hosting to raise funds for his sister's nonprofit. Donors that gave above a certain amount were treated to a wine tasting at Jose's boat out in San Francisco Bay. Jose works in the wine industry and thought this was a fun way to help out. Maria's friend donated and invited her to this outing; she said yes without hesitation and without knowing she would meet the love of her life that day.
Maria and Jose started chatting and immediately sparked up a chemistry that made them exchange phone numbers and go on a date shortly after. Jose joked that he was "in the market for a Latin girlfriend" and that is exactly what he got. They became inseparable: by date #3 Maria was going to Jose's work events and by date #6 Jose was meeting Maria's parents in Mexico City. Since then, they have enjoyed traveling all over the world including Morocco, Lebanon, the UK and all over Mexico and California and have been living together since May. People often say that they never thought either of them would find a partner that has so much energy, enjoyment of life and love to give as Maria and Jose.
Jose popped the question over the holidays at Maria's parents house in Mexico City while they were having coffee before heading to lunch at Pujol with Maria's family. It was a complete surprise as it was literally immediately after waking up from a nap after a red-eye flight. Jose set up a GoPro in the garden and has a video of him popping the question in flawless Spanish and of Maria crying for the entire duration. Needless to say, the holiday break became a celebration of the engagement. Maria thought Jose might propose during this trip, (he had asked her for her ring size!) but when they were exploring Oaxaca, Mexico, alone, not while celebrating Christmas during the holidays.
Jose chose a beautiful and impeccable emerald cut ring with tapered baguettes, which has always been a favorite of Maria (Jose did not know this fact!). She is in love with the ring and constantly keeps calling Jose to tell him that and texting pictures of the ring while at work. They are thrilled with their Clear Cut ring and loved working with Olivia! The are getting married in Oaxaca, Mexico early 2020, which is a very special place for them since it was their celebratory trip after the proposal (Jardin Etnobotanico in Oaxaca is the venue for both their wedding and where the pictures were taken). Congratulations Maria and Jose!
