Clear Cut Couples: Marissa and Joey

Marissa and Joey have a very invisible string theory reconnecting story. They met in 2014 at a Newport polo match, but never formally until the Summer of 2017 at a Providence College Fourth of July party and had a brief fling that summer. 

They reconnected in September of 2020 in Newport, RI. Their first date was takeout pizza and a picnic at Brenton Point park on Ocean road in Newport (where Joey ended up proposing 4 years later!)

They have had countless incredible memories since then and have been on a lot of fun trips together including Italy, London, Paris, Ireland, Bahamas, and more, but the most special highlights are everyday life cooking together, taking their golden retriever Bowen on adventures, golfing, skiing or taking the boat out for date nights.

Joey proposed on 8.24.24 at Brenton point park in Newport, RI where their first date was. He then surprised Marissa with close friends and family waiting at Castle Hill, followed by a really fun backyard party hosted by her parents with ALL of their friends!

Marissa knew that a proposal was coming soon-ish after they tried on rings earlier in the year, but she was very thrown off because earlier that day, she was helping throw her sister's bridal shower. She was so tired and didn't want to go out, but one of her best friends who lives in NYC asked to get drinks at Castle Hill and it was a beautiful summer night so Joey said that they shouldn't pass it up. As soon as they passed the area where their first date was and she saw a picnic with flowers set up, she started sobbing and knew!

As for their wedding, they are hoping for 2025 in Newport, RI but are just enjoying being engaged for now! Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
