Clear Cut Couples: Megan and Michael
Megan and Michael met when Megan was recruited to work for the same hotel company that Michael had been working for in Atlanta. As Michigan State alumni living in the south, they became fast friends, watching games together and cheering on their beloved Spartans. As coworkers, they dated secretly for nearly 3 years, not wanting their work and personal relationships to intertwine. To them, their first date was officially on October 17th, 2015 – they met up with a bunch of mutual friends to watch the Spartans take on in-state rivals, Michigan. The game was almost over and just about everyone had called Ubers to go their separate ways, but the most amazing thing happened on the last play of the game. In the words of the ESPN announcer: “Oh, he has trouble with the snap! And the ball is free! It's picked up by Michigan State's Jalen Watts-Jackson! And he scores! On the last play of the game! Unbelievable!" You watch a video of the incredible ending to the game HERE! Megan and Michael ended up staying out to celebrate the game with their friends and the rest is history. Since then, they have been together for four years!
Megan and Michael have incredible memories taking trips to watch the Spartans. They also love going back to Michigan – either the Detroit area or “up north” in Hessel or Lake Charlevoix. They have been to weddings all over the world together, in Iceland, Puerto Rico, Northern California, Paris, and mire. Of all the wonderful places in the world they have been together, northern Michigan in the summer will always be the nearest and dearest to their hearts. They have rescued two amazing dogs – Arthur, a Jack Russell Terrier-Chihuahua mix and then his sister, Winnie, a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. Winnie is a little shy now, but absolutely adores her big brother!
While Michigan will always be “home” to them, Atlanta is an amazing city and they are so lucky to have a beautiful home there together with their pups. They spend most of their weekends pretending to be Chip and Joanna Gaines working on projects at home (LOL!). Both of them work in the hospitality industry, so having a home to host people means so much to them.
Michael proposed on January 18th, 2019. As a guise, Michael told Megan that he had planned a special birthday dinner at one of Atlanta’s nicest restaurants. Before they left for their dinner reservation, Michael called her outside to their screened-in porch (their favorite room in their new house), where he had lit a romantic fire, candles, and had strung magical lights everywhere. Together, with their best friend Arthur dressed in his finest bow tie, Michael asked Megan to marry him. As if the proposal wasn’t perfect enough, they arrived at the restaurant to find that Michael had flown in Megan’s two sisters for the weekend to celebrate with them. When Megan saw them, she burst into tears. She says, “Just another reason why I know this guy is the absolute best.” AWWW!
Megan was surprised when Michael proposed, but knew that he was in good hands with Olivia! Megan says, “The ring is more perfect that I could have ever imagined. I catch myself looking at it all the time.”
They are getting married on June 20, 2020 at The Inn at St. John’s in their home state of Michigan, where both of their families are from! Congrats Megan and Michael! We are SO happy for you!!
