Clear Cut Couples: Shikha and Henry
Shikha and Henry first crossed paths in Chicago after connecting on Hinge. Their story officially began with a bit of a plot twist; when their original first-date plans fell through, they pivoted and ended up meeting at the Fireplace Inn in Old Town instead. Since it was the weekend right before the Fourth of July, they capped off the night by heading down to the lakeshore to watch the fireworks, followed by a hilarious ride home in a karaoke Uber. Looking back, that happy accident was the start of everything. They spent their first year together making the most of the city, constantly exploring new neighborhoods and enjoying all that Chicago has to offer.
They were completely inseparable the rest of the weekend, and from that point on, they knew that they had found something special. They have been together for 3 years!
Eventually, their adventure took them north to Milwaukee when Shikha began her residency, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for both of them. They have shared countless incredible memories. The biggest highlights have been a mix of big adventures and navigating real life together. They have been lucky enough to travel to multiple countries and explore the world, but the moments that truly defined them happened closer to home. Going through the intensity of their careers, Shikha’s residency, and supporting each other through major life events—both the happiest moments and the incredibly sad ones—showed them what a great team they are. Another huge highlight has been bringing their families together; despite coming from very different backgrounds, learning to blend their lives and deeply appreciate each other's roots has made their bond so much stronger.
Henry proposed in Santorini, Greece, just a couple of weeks after Shikha finished her residency. They went to Imerovigili to watch the sunset, and while the views were absolutely incredible, the winds were also completely insane—which ended up being the most perfectly “them” twist to the evening. Standing in the middle of a literal windstorm, he shared all of his favorite memories from their relationship and asked her to marry him. It was hilarious, sweet, and totally unforgettable. After, they celebrated with a beautiful dinner together to toast to the next chapter!
Shikha definitely had a little bit of an inkling that the proposal might be coming since it was such a big trip right after residency, but the moment itself was still a total, wonderful surprise! She said, “As for the ring, I am absolutely in love with it—it is everything I ever dreamed of and more. Henry did the absolute best job picking it out, and honestly, I still can’t stop staring at it!”
They are planning on tying the knot in the Spring of 2028 in Europe. They will be doing a traditional Indian wedding and also doing a Catholic ceremony. Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
