Clear Cut Couples: Tyler and Ali

Tyler and Ali met at Penn State during their sophomore year of college. They had mutual friends and Tyler stole one of their phones one night to message Ali that he thought that she was cute! Soon after the phone messaging, they met up after a night out for pizza at the local late night pizza joint. Ali was so nervous she barely touched her slice (which if you know her, is not a typical problem!). A few days later, Tyler took her out for their first official date at The Deli in downtown State College. The rest is history… they have been together for over 4.5 years. Their anniversary is 6/10/17!!

They have shared so many incredible memories over the years. Their junior year of college, Ali studied abroad in Spain and Tyler was able to visit. This was during a large Nor’easter storm on the east coast and although Tyler made it on time by getting the last seat on one of the last flights out of JFK, his luggage did not! Another highlight was that they were also able to move to Kaua’i for about a year for Tyler’s work. This was during the pandemic and was their first time officially moving in together! They will always cherish those hikes, beaches, friends and memories made in their favorite place in the world.

Tyler proposed when they were back on Kaua’i visiting friends for a few days. On their first day, they did one of their favorite hikes and Ali thought he would pop the question then. When he didn’t, she figured it wasn’t in the cards for that trip. Little did she know - he had the ring on that hike, but didn’t feel it was the right moment (Tyler says he thought it was too predictable! They had also unintentionally photographed a proposal there months before when they lived on the island and were out for a casual hike). The next day, they had dinner reservations at their favorite spot on the island and were ready about an hour early. They decided to walk down to their favorite private beach and that’s where he proposed!

It was a total surprise! Ali said “The plan to go to this beach before dinner was at the last minute (at least it seemed to me). Little did I know he had this plan and played it off so cool I had no idea. And the ring is perfect! I gave Tyler lots of freedom - we had gotten sized and all I told him was that I liked a simple, elongated cushion. From there, he somehow formulated my dream ring!”

Their wedding will be on June 10th, 2023 which is their dating anniversary!! They plan to get married in Ali’s hometown of Camp Hill, PA. Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
