Clear Cut Couples: Austin and Ally
Austin and Ally met on the dance floor of an old college bar during Ally’s junior year of college in Charleston! Austin had already graduated. Ally remembered seeing Austin from a far and knew that she had to go introduce herself. After the night ended, she secretly told herself that she was going to marry him one day and kept that secret for years because she didn't want people to think that she was crazy for feeling that way so soon.
They always laugh over the fact that they never really went on a first date. Their connection was instant from the moment that they met and from day one, they were always going places and doing everything together just like any couple that had been together for years.
It's been a running joke that Austin never officially asked her to be his girlfriend. One day he just happened to introduce Ally to someone as his girlfriend and she just ran with it. After ally graduated college, they moved into their first place together in Charleston and it was so exciting because it was the next big step in their relationship. They rescued their sweet dog (Poppy) together in 2021 and she has been the greatest addition to their family. Taking frequent weekend trips to visit Ally’s family in Charlotte has become a big part of their relationship as fun little getaways. After 4 whole years, they finally went on their first vacation together on a cruise to the Bahamas. Being able to just relax and enjoy their time together was the best. If they’re not walking Poppy in the beautiful oak tree lined neighborhoods of historic Charleston, they’re trying new restaurants all over town. Their favorite thing to do is stroll King Street on Second Sunday and walk the Charleston City Night Market with some ice cream.
Austin proposed in the most beautiful way possible on November 12th. He set up the most perfect little area on the beach with giant "Marry Me" marquee letters lined with vases of pampas grass (which is her favorite!). Ally and her best friend walked onto the beach to take pictures before dinner, but instead she turned around to Austin standing there waiting for her. Their friends and family traveled from all over to be there and it was so special!
It was SUCH a surprise! Ally said, “I couldn't believe it was actually happening. It was a day I dreamed of since the day I met Austin. My jaw dropped when I saw the ring and cried even more than I already was. Everything about the ring is perfect and I couldn't imagine anything better. A total dream!”
As for their wedding, they are planning to have a fall/winter wedding next year. Their vision is to have a classic Charleston black tie wedding at a historic venue in town. Disco balls and a champagne tower are a must. Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
