Clear Cut Couples: Gustavo and Katie
Gustavo & Katie met in college at Penn State. Gustavo took Katie to Puerto Rico for her birthday 5 yrs ago - I wouldn't call it a "first date", but he would say that's where he fell in love with her. They have been best friends for 10+ years & have been dating for the past 5 years. They were lucky enough to love each other as best friends first. They both have wild hearts & their friends would say that instead of "settling down" they found the person that they can both run wild with for the rest of forever.
They have shared so many incredible memories over the years, and here are just a few highlights! Gustavo is the first person to show Katie the world & everything is offers.
+ They started out traveling to Puerto Rico, where they scaled a fence at 2AM to skinny dip under the stars.
+ They then traveled to the beautiful caves & beaches in Algarve Portugal.
+ They rode around in vintage hot pink & lime green American classic cars in Cuba and took salsa dancing in a dilapidated mansion.
+ They frolicked through the rainbow streets of Colombia & had dance parties on a boat with our friends in the Rosario Islands.
+ They danced all night in underground rave caves in Paris, while locals judged our choice in ordering vodka & red bull all night.
+ They’d spend every morning with their toes in the sand drinking lattes in Tulum, Mexico & their nights without cell phones / electronics immersed in what is known as the Papaya Playa Project with their besties.
+ They most recently traveled throughout Northern Italy, where they got engaged at Lake Como at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo.
+ Most importantly they moved to NYC together where they spent all their time with their NYC family.
Gustavo proposed to Katie in Lake Como, Italy at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. They had planned a private lake excursion & were about to board a vintage wood paneled boat, when Gustavo got down on one knee. He said "I'll love you for the rest of eternity, will you marry me?" Katie responded "But that's the wrong hand". He said " Please put this ring on before I drop it in the lake." She laughed & he said "So?"
She responded "What took you so damn long? YES, a million time YES!" They then spend the next hour exploring hidden gems & villas along the lake, while sipping champagne & belting out Illenium / Don Diablo tracks. They definitely both went to bed with permanent smiles on their faces.
How he was going to propose was a surprise, but the engagement in general wasn't a surprise. They both picked out the ring together at The Clear Cut, the entire experience was an absolute delight. She said, “THE RING! The ring is perfect in every way - did I mention how she couldn't wipe that smile off her face even while she was sleeping? She still stares at it in complete awe.”
They plan on enjoying their engagement - the wedding plans won't start for a while.
They plan on getting married in the summer of 2024 & they know that they want a destination wedding. Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
