Clear Cut Couples: Laura and Dmitry

Laura and Dmitry met through mutual friends at dinner in St. Marks the summer of 2012. It was a super hot and humid summer day and Laura just wanted to go home to air conditioning, but Dmitry kept complimenting her so she stayed and they eventually exchanged numbers. Their first date happened on a Friday after work. They met at a cute little wine bar in Flatiron for drinks. They ended up chatting for hours about family, career goals, travel plans, animals, etc. It was clear that they were on to something! Since then, they have been together for 7 years!!

Over the years, they have shared countless memories. It’s truly been a whirlwind. They got regrettable matching tattoos a month after meeting each other, moved into a cozy little apartment in Chelsea after 2 months of knowing each other, traveled to over 20 countries and too many cities to count - most notably a few weeks in Russia where Dmitry grew up, bought and designed two apartments together, and most importantly of all, they adopted a black/brindle french bulldog who can be an absolute terror, but is also the light of their life. Life has been kind to them and they are so grateful for all of their incredible moments and milestones together.

They were meant to pick up Laura's parents in Queens before a big family lunch, but Dmitry kept insisting on a walk around the park beforehand in 90 degree heat. The park is quite sentimental and it's where they have a bench that they designated as “their bench” because they sat there for hours on their 2nd date night (and Laura got mauled by mosquitos lol!).

There was a family with a stroller sitting on “their bench” when they arrived (it's where Dmitry planned on proposing) so to Laura's horror, he asked the family to get up and leave!! Laura was in shock when the family actually left, and was even more shocked when Dmitry got down on one knee and proposed right then.

The proposal was a huge surprise to her -- they had a trip to Paris planned the following week and Laura was certain it would happen there. She was involved in the ring selection, but was still absolutely floored by the ring when she saw it that day. She says, “Olivia was so incredible with providing guidance and sharing her expertise. The experience was so seamless and we couldn't have asked for more!”

Despite their parents insistence on having a wedding, tomorrow, it's one of the last things on their to-do list. They really want to enjoy the engagement bliss and would much rather plan dog parties for Nova. Congrats Laura and Dmitry!! We are SO happy for you!!
