Clear Cut Couples: Mariya and Chris
Mariya and Chris met through a dating app and had their first date at a bar before she ever gave away her phone number! When they met, Mariya had an escape plan by having one of her friends meet them at the bar about an hour after they met. But she didn't leave when her friend got there. They stayed for another drink while he shared some pretty interesting stories, rivaling some true crime dramas, from his work. Mariya texted him her number after they left so he could ask her for a second date :). It was right before Christmas and going away for the Holidays, so they sort of talked on the phone and kept in touch through the New Year until she was back in town. They have been together for three years and have shared so many incredible memories. They both had families previously and are taking a different approach this time. They were keeping their family to pets only, no more kids. Mariya’s son went off to college in the Fall and she moved in with Chris soon after. They have started building this new chapter of their lives together. Done with kids (as much as you can be) but building a blended family as they transition from those responsibilities into something that is more focused on them!
Chris proposed at the winery that they go to all the time in Calistoga - Tedeschi Family Winery. It's one of their favorites because it's family owned and run. They have been visiting them since their relationship started. Chris took Mariya out into the vineyard and started saying really sweet things to her. She was really confused at first but then it all clicked and she figured it out when he got down and proposed.
Mariya said, “I was surprised when he proposed but because I thought he was going to do it later. I knew he was getting a ring from Clear Cut because I told him he would have to get it from there if he was going to get me a ring and gave him some ideas in order of preference. The ring is perfection. It's exactly what I wanted and is beautiful. I love the cut and the size. I just can't believe how perfect it was.” They’re planning a St. Helena (Napa area) wedding in August! Congrats you two! We are SO happy for you!
