Clear Cut Couples: Mark and Stephanie
Stephanie and Mark met in New York after an introduction from a mutual friend, both a college classmate of theirs. They had a lot in common- they are both from Chicago and had gone to the same undergrad school, but had never met before. They had so many mutual friends and hit it off right away!
At the time, Steph was living in Washington, DC and Mark was in NYC. They traded off turns coming to visit one another, so they had a lot of memorable meals. Their first date in NYC was for dinner and some drinks at a restaurant in the East Village, called the Redhead, which is no longer there. They met in 2014 and have been together ever since!
They have had many memorable trips and moments down the years. Their first trip together was a last minute December getaway to the Bahamas. Since then they’ve been to Bermuda, London, Paris, southern France, Tulum, Vancouver, Seattle, and Jackson Hole, to name a few. 2020 was a year of many special moments together, from celebrating Steph's graduation from her Nurse Practitioner program, to adopting a puppy together (an Australian shepherd named Jackson, after Jackson Hole), and now to getting engaged!
Mark proposed in their hometown, in Chicago, the day after Christmas. It was cold that day, but he convinced Steph to come with him to Grant Park so that they could meet up with "a friend" and have their dogs meet to play in the park. Steph wasn't too thrilled about the plan, preferring to hang out with her friends and siblings and not be out in the cold, but she agreed. When they got to an iconic part of the park, confessed that they weren't actually meeting anyone and that's when the proposal happened.
Steph was very surprised, and even more so by the fact their families were waiting to greet them afterwards. She loves the right- it fits perfectly! As for their wedding, they hope it will be in the spring of 2022 in Chicago!
