Clear Cut Couples: Stephany and Trevor
Stephany and Trevor met in January of 2016. Stephany moved down to Miami from Boston for her job. She was swamped with work and didn’t really have a social life outside of work. Her family had recently relocated from Chicago to Seoul, South Korea. So over New Year’s in 2015, she visited a friend in Boston and celebrated her friend’s birthday and New Year's together.
Without much expectation and out of curiosity, and since new year was starting, the two of them downloaded the Coffee Meets Bagel dating app on New Year’s Eve. On January 1st, Trevor appeared on Stephany’s app and she clicked YES. The next day, she must have appeared on Trevor’s. On Sunday, January 3rd, they matched and started chatting. On the 4th, Trevor suggested they meet for dinner the upcoming Saturday, but because Stephany’s dad was visiting on Wednesday through Tuesday, Stephany suggested the weekend after. Trevor insisted on getting dinner sooner, rather than later. So the next day, they met at Lure Fishbar at Loews Miami Beach for dinner near Stephany’s office. They had a 4 hour dinner without any interruption and enjoyed each other’s company very much and that was the end of the story! Since then, they have been together for three years.
Stephany had never been on a boat before, despite living in Miami for almost three years. So when she finally had a weekend off from work, Trevor found a nice sailboat charter, with a delightful husband-wife team as captain and first mate. Stephany and Trevor rented the boat and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon sailing around Biscayne Bay. Trevor had tipped off the captain and they were ready to help without surprising Stephany. About halfway through the sail, Trevor finally worked up the courage and then tipped off the first mate! When she offered to take pictures and a video of them, Stephany and Trevor were posing. But soon, Trevor got down on one knee and told Stephany how much she meant to him and popped the question! The Captain let off an airhorn to let the bay know she said yes!
Stephany had mentioned how someday when she became engaged, she’d love to be able to celebrate with family and friends. But because Stephany’s family and friends live far away, Trevor reached out to her closest friends and family in advance. He asked them for a short video message saying “congratulations!” Trevor shared the heartfelt videos with her after he proposed and she loved them!
Stephany was so surprised. They typically spend Christmas together-- just the two of them and they had already booked a trip to Santa Fe, NM. the week before Trevor proposed. So, Stephany was convinced “the big day” was going to be during the trip to Sante Fe. She had no idea what was coming when she got on the boat. She continuously mentions how she absolutely loves the ring and is so grateful to Olivia for making the perfect round brilliant cut solitaire ring. They are planning their wedding for December, 2019. They plan to get married in Miami, where everything started! Congratulations Stephany and Trevor -- we are so excited for you!
